"I wrote and recorded this back in the 1980's and yet, it could've been written this week. The electric guitar work is by my good friend, the über-talented, Jason Goodrow. We performed together for a while on NYC's Lower East Side under the name Slowpoke. Maybe not the most Christmasy of songs but it does have snow, dread and melancholy in it, so maybe it is Christmasy after all. Enjoy 'The Good Life'." - Cheers, Lach

a fresh cut suburban lawn

that the good life is in good keeping
but after Nixon who knows what's true

I wanted to write tonight
about a lonely wife
and the designer house
for her designer life
but somehow, America, keeps marching through the door

I have a kid who was a baby when the pandemic started and a toddler now. When he’s older and asks what the pandemic is like I’m gonna put this album on and pour myself a drink- this covers it all. Feels surreal to imagine ever having the privilege of going to see a Jeffrey Lewis show again but it’s top of my list when this crap is over. savanns
