about

"Dave Woodcock and The Dead Comedians are a stellar band out of Sheffield, UK. Several 'years' ago I took a day off on tour to go into the studio with them and knock out a few tunes. The Chase was one of them. Good times." - Lach

lyrics

The Chase

Working as a bookie at the local club
Every night a new girl, every night the same drugs
Used to be an actor now you’re just putting on an act
Everything you wanted is every thing you lack
Always saving mama in every girl you see
But what you’re really saying is “Mama, please save me”

Standing at the starting line ready for your run
The referee is sweating and he's polishing his gun
But the race is over even before it has begun
You’ve raced yourself forever and you’ve never won
Always hitting daddy in every man you meet
But what you’re really saying is “Daddy, don't hit me”

And so I wrote this song I don't know what for
I guess, in a way, to say I can’t see you anymore
You’re a dog, a fog, a bad bitter aftertaste
And I’m just so glad to be far from the maddening chase
Sick of all your worry, tired of your face
Sick and tired, tired of the chase
