Id Dub (Live)

about

"I returned to EdenB from NYC last week with several shoeboxes of old cassette tapes. There's a lot of cool stuff in there and one of the first I found was a Proper Id cassette with a live version of our group collaboration, "Id Dub". This song was different every time we performed it, a jazzy-dub-punk-pop chunk of beauty. It seems on this cut I was just starting to come up with some lyrical ideas that would turn into my song "A Day Without Me" which was featured on my album "Kids Fly Free". This version of Proper Id was a four-piece with Marc Davison (AKA Mark K) having left the band at this point. A side-note... Marc reconnected with us over the last few years and this has already resulted in my releasing a few singles with him as "Lach & Davison", three of these are in your bandcamp collection.
Will Proper Id get back together to record in a real, actual studio ever again? I can say this, the spirit is willing if the onlyverse will provide ;-)" - Cheers, Lach

lyrics

Id Dub Live

Something smells good in here!

Oh yeah, oh right
Feeling OK tonight
Music makes me feel alright
I do what I want to do when I want to do it
Do what you want to do when you want to do it
All night long

I do what I want to do when I want to do it
Do what you will that’s the whole of the law
Do what thou wilt that’s the whole of the law

Break it down

Aaah

Sometimes I feel
Sometimes I feel so
Sometimes I feel like I’m in pain
And I need something to take me out
I’m going out
I feel compelled
I’m going out
I got my prescription boots
I’m going out
Getting out of this jail

I want to spend the day without me
I want to spend the day without me
I want to get out of my head
I want to get into a different body

Use a kitchen for a dressing room and we tune it up
We hope and hope that some people show up
It’s in people like you that music exists
The will of the artist is the will to resist

You know what I mean
You know what I mean now baby

Hey, Do what you want to do
Hey, Do it all night long
Oh baby! Do it, do it, do it, do it.

You think I do my little ditty for the kiddie from Cambodia
Well alright, I’ll sing my song a little boogie for the baby in Arabia
OK, I’ll sing my song in the key of Asia Minor
I sing tonight for the starving kid here in America

And I do what I wanna do when I wanna do it
Do what you wanna do, do it, do it, do it, aaaah!
