TONYA
I went with Tonya to Storm Lake
To have us a little skate
Our breath looked like factory smoke
As we took a break of Marlboros and Coke
She told me of her worried life
The daughter of a five-time wife
And how all the doors locked by society
Could be opened with a magic iceskate key
Born on the wrong side of everything
Love was a curse or a beating
But that Hell glowed like a new Heaven
When she stepped into the skating ring
Tonya Harding dreams of an ice-queen
dancing for the love of the judge-king
The crowds cheers made her deaf
Till all she could hear was Jeff
The father that she never had
Please say you love me dad
I'll do anything for you dad
We finished up our cigarettes
And hit the ice as the sun set
Tonya did a perfect pirouette
And gave me a smile I'll never forget
A three-year old in a ski hat
Doing anything to get a look from dad
