about

"My mom gave me a button when I was a kid that had a picture of John Glenn in his astronaut helmet and along the bottom it read "Welcome back to Earth, Glenn." How could you not get a song out of that?
I love the band's playing on this. Norman's guitar work was amazing and the whole band is very tight. The "Ah-ah!" cries on the song are a nod to The Clash but they also bring an image of seagulls flying past Glenn's rocket-ship before take-off." Lach

The John Glenn Song

Welcome back to Earth, Glenn
When are you going back up again?
In orbit all alone
Around the third stone
from the sun
You're a hero for everyone
What's it like John?
Up there all alone?

I want to be an astronaut
I want to fly through space
Just like you got to John
With no one staring in your face
Except the sun
Be a hero for everyone
What's it like, John
Up there all alone?

I want to be an astronaut
Just like you
I want to be an astronaut too
I want to be an astronaut
Just like you
I want to be an astronaut too
And then a senator from Ohio

But they only run guns now
In military shuttlecraft
No more time now
To have us one last laugh
Just me and the sun all alone having fun
What's it like John
Up there all alone?

I'm all alone
I'm all alone
I'm all alone in Ohio
I'm all alone in my home town
I'm all alone
I'm all alone
I'm all alone
I'm all alone
I'm all alone
I'm all alone
I'm all alone
I'm all alone
I'm all alone
I'm all alone
I'm all alone
I'm all alone
