SONG NOTES: I was watching Tom Clark play at Siné Café and wanted to write a song he could cover. I borrowed a pen, grabbed a napkin and wrote the song. The whole thing took three minutes to do. It is one of my most requested songs and I've probably played it over a thousand times.

STUDIO NOTES: There is a live solo version of this on the Lach's Antihoot (Fortified) release which has a whole improvised middle section. Richard wanted to capture that version but with the band. We played this live in the studio with me doing the middle improvised rap. I later overdubbed the Hammond and Ross came in and nailed the harmonica part in two takes. I never got drunk with my mom. But there really was a Mike who could make a bong out of anything!

POST-COMMENTS FOR BANDCAMPSTERS: The song later became the basis for an episode of The Lach Chronicles on BBC Radio 4.
