There's A Darkness When You're Coming Down

There’s A Darkness When Yr Comin’ Down Yr whole persona is working man Yet everyone calls ya the boss It's like complaining about winning After everyone else here has lost Yr songs are stock options car ads on the great white way It seems one can retire On the back of one's glory days Lying underground undiscovered I've got treasure in my chest You said I was joking I replied it was all in jest When ya accept the invite To have tea in the whitest home Ya trade away yr artist’s right To write the rebel poems Can’t say I blame you Not sure what I would’ve done Given keys to the kingdom At the end of a long, long run But now I've trouble sleeping, eating even getting dressed When we're so busy being civil to avoid any unrest Still, I can’t help but wonder About the songs forever lost And if Caesar’s friendship Is ever worth the cost

about

Wrote this lyric top to bottom in a flash, picked up the old acoustic, played it through once and bam, done! The whole thing took less than five minutes. I then had to wait two months for a chest infection to heal before I could record it. Someday, I may add stuff like an organ bed, some lonesome bendy electric guitar notes, maybe a harmonica. But that's someday thinking. This song wants to be out now, and I wanna move onto the next one. So, just guitar and voice all anti-style, yeah?
