Sometime last century, I had a band called The Sextet Offensive. We only hit the studio once and this cut "Kicking Hank's Mansion" was recorded along with "Drinking Beers With Mom" (That version was released as a fan single a few years back and should be in your collection).

"Hank" was a lot of fun to record. Our engineer had a huge studio in an old building and I wanted the song to start with a door creaking open. Yeah, we spent some expensive studio time trying out every old door in the studio to get just the right creaking sound!

The violin on this was performed by an interesting cat who we could never figure out if he was in the band or not as we never knew when he'd show up! As he was so erratic, I dubbed him Random Johnson and his actual name was lost to history until today. Through hours of research, I believe it is Dean Josh Gordon. Who knew?

I have a kid who was a baby when the pandemic started and a toddler now. When he’s older and asks what the pandemic is like I’m gonna put this album on and pour myself a drink- this covers it all.
