Debris
Vegas vomited into my morning
And it was hard to stand on the toxic boat
It all stretched in front of me
Debris
Hurricanes heaved up hospital beds
Medical scanners, stuffed dolls
Coffee mugs, bicycles and TV’s
Debris
Wind maps like a murderer’s fingerprint
The center, blood red and moving
Across country’s trailing disease
Debris
Muddy water everywhere rising
Dirty syringes and used tampons
A bullhorn to hypocrisy
Debris
Suited spokesman focus testing
Responses for best angles to win power
Offering prayers and sympathies
Debris
Country cattle dipped like fries
Into the boiling oil of madness
Acoustic abattoir’s haunting melody
Debris
Flags and flags and more goddamn flags
On pins, boots, jackets, stripper poles
But don’t dare take a knee
Debris
And walls in ears and hearts
And shorelines and radio charts
Until everyone’s living like a refugee
Debris
And I’m sorry Tom but the wave hits
Everybody eventually and we
All will end up swallowed by the sea
Debris.
